After the announcement that possibly 6 teams could be forced west, the American Hockey League revealed the divisional makeup for the 2014-15 season.
Curious moves, to say the least.

Innocuous : not likely to bother or offend anyone; causing no injury
That’s the Merriam-Webster definition. Many times in life we encounter changes or explanations which can be described this way. Google Maps updates the voice in the guided GPS, breweries change label font, things that ultimately do nothing to the natural flow of life. These are instances that we all ignore at worst, comment on with a heart of neutrality at best.
Fans of the Islanders are used to events less innocuous. Much. Less.
The opening 15min of Christmas In July is normally chaos. A new signing every minute, dollar figures higher than most can count, and pairings of odd bedfellows. That happened to a degree, but after Hour Two.
Smoke swirls around the floor. A solitary Lucky glowing in the corner, Glen Sather front and center like a banker . Class trumps pompous every time.
Gaze into the chasm of Draft Day…

Twenty-year careers do not always age gracefully. Ray Bourque and John Elway bowed out at the perfect moment. Roger Clemens, Patrick Ewing, Shaq, and Jerry Rice didn’t listen to the Time/Space Continuum. Shaq’s career spiritually ended after the title in Miami and no one is going to remember a single team he tried out for after San Francisco. Thankfully, Ewing found coaching to give him a new light to stand in.
The second-greatest goalie in history has made it clear that he wants to be the next Patrick Ewing.
Today American Hockey League President/CEO Dave Andrews announced that there will be a shift in the geography of the AHL. This will not be an expansion move; it is a full-on relocation of multiple franchises to accommodate their NHL parents. Mostly Western Conference NHL teams. This may be the first time a minor league has enacted a wide-scale, forced realignment.
Some random thoughts going into the 2014 Stanley Cup Final:
•This is raw destructive power versus spiritual clarity and focus, does the body or the soul give way first?
•Speaking of giving way, both teams have played five Game 7s this year. There will not be a 6th, there just can’t be.
•World-class or statistically-bad goalie; which posts more shutouts in spite of everything?
•Henrik Lundqvist lost the Gold Medal game in Sochi to the goalie he beat to reach the SCF. Imagine a world where HL is a double-runner up.
•Wayne Gretzky is going to be the talk of both towns. Here’s hoping for some love for Snake Plisskin.
•More frequent Gretzky jersey foul: modern LA, Outdoor Series LA, Outdoor Series Rags, or Winter Classic Rags?
•Were Brian Boyle, Marian Gaborik, and Dan Carcillo members of their SCF opponent? I HOPE SOMEONE ANSWERS THAT QUESTION FOR US AT LEAST ONCE A SHIFT.
•How much money is the NHL going to take in from this Final, Scrooge Mc Duck or C. Montgomery Burns amounts?
•Who is the first player traded at 12:01am the morning after, AKA the 2014 Roman Turek.
