Continue readingThe NHL Trade Deadline was accurately named for 2017, it was fairly dead. If you looked at the fan base of the New York Islanders, you would think that GM Garth Snow was dead as well seeing that he politely abstained from making a deal of any kind today. The Internet melted.
Last time we visited those who manned the Islanders’ nets, we were staring down the final year of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. They were the ballsy, daffy men who put themselves at risk of injury to stop near-weaponized rubber.

Sullen news out of Staten Island, NY today, as the New York Islanders Hockey Club has announced it will move to Nassau for the 2026-27 National Hockey League (NHL) season.
I’m not bothered with the relocation rumors that resurrect themselves more often than the Undertaker.
If you thought Islander-dom was fairly happy and safe, save for some wonky line changes on meth, fear not. Something bad is coming!

That’s not a typo, which is slightly sad. What’s sadder is this may be his last chance to deliver on his “upside”.

The 2015 NHL Entry Draft begins on June 26th in Sunrise, Florida. But for the New York Islanders it begins with pick 72, formerly the Florida Panthers’ third round pick. You may remember that pick was acquired in the 2014 Draft day blockbuster that saw the Islanders trade back…a whole year.
